Fem-i-cide
[fem-uh-sahyd]
noun
1. the mass murder of women simply because they are women.

This is the term that has been coined in response to the murders of nearly 400 young women on the U.S.-Mexico border in the city of Juárez, just across the border from El Paso, Texas. Since 1993 over 400 women have been murdered, many more still missing, with law enforcement and government officials doing little to nothing to solve these violent acts.

I encourage you to expose yourself to the struggles and tragedies faced by both Mexican and American women in and around the city of Juárez, Mexico, to educate the community about the Femicide, to challenge people to act and raise awareness to others who are unaware of the situation, and to promote a cause that few know about, but is very important.
